If he can't get you to sin, he'll get you to doubt or fear

Philippians 4:6, 13 CPDV
"Be anxious about nothing. But in all things, with prayer and supplication, with acts of thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. Everything is possible in him who has strengthened me."

Seems pretty easy and straight forward. With our faith we should be on earth without fear and doubt and when we do we simply lift it up to God and through him everything is possible. So why do we still have those fears and doubts?

Why?

The good Lord enjoys taking us out of our comfort zone and test us. Not really test so much as allow us to shine and take stock of things. Thus was my predicament when I was lulled into a conversation about my conversion from Southern Baptist to Catholicism.

New Prayer to my 2013 Saint

Found this prayer for intercession with my 2013 patron saint:

O God, who assigned Saint Matthiasa place in the college of Apostles, grant us, through his intercession, that, rejoicing at how your love has been allotted to us,we may merit to be numbered among the elect.Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Let us praise the Lord.- And give him thanks.
Who's your patron?

What does faithful mean?

Does it mean being literally full of faith? Does it mean something akin to "loyalty"? Could it possibly be a combination of the two? Perhaps that and a little more. Do we "get more faith" or "be more faithful"?

Starting off 2013 Saintly

I saw this from another blog posting. I thought this was a good idea. Now, keep in mind I've already got a patron Saint that I've always liked. That said, it never hurts to get to know a new one. How better than to do so at random and expand my knowledge of the Church. You can pick a Saint too!

History, and knowledge are always good things. So my adoptive Patron saint this year is St. Matthias. I thought the article was very fitting for someone like me. An outsider so to speak.

Hope everyone is having a very happy and blessed New Year!
